Hospital Hotel La Catolica
This institution was known as Clínica Católica for twenty six years, and during the following seventeen years the name was changed to Hospital Clínica Católica de la Purisima Concepcion Association.
In 2006, an ambitious process of changes in administration and infrastructure began, and the facilities were transformed into a new, one-of-a-kind concept in medical services in the beautiful country of Costa Rica. At the same time, the name was changed to what it has become today, Hospital Hotel La Católica.
On August 16, 2007, Hospital Hotel La Catolica obtained a Certification of Hospital Empowerment for a term of five years.
The Hospital is also accredited by the Joint Commission International, and this is the international branch of The Joint Commission International (USA); its mission is to improve the quality of healthcare in the international community.
For over 75 years, the Joint Commission and its predecessor organization have been dedicated to improving the quality and safety of healthcare services throughout the world. It evaluates approximately 16,000 health care programs and facilities through a voluntary accreditation process.
Since the Hospital Hotel La Catolica complies with standards and regulations for quality, and patient safety, the Ministry of Health, an entity of the Costa Rican Government, has submitted the Hospital for a second accreditation with the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation.
The Hospital is currently being evaluated by the Canadian Council.
